Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak are trying to raise the opposition of a majority of ministers against an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, said Wednesday the daily Haaretz. Monday, Barak had denied reports of the Israeli media that he had already made the decision with Mr. Netanyahu to attack Iran, despite opposition from the chiefs of the army and intelligence. According to the Israeli newspaper, the majority of the "forum" of the eight most important ministers, is also opposed to such an operation. Only MM. Netanyahu, Barak and Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman supported the "military option" against Iran. However, the interior minister and head of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party, Elie Yishai, Dan Meridor (Minister for Intelligence Services), Benny Begin (Minister without Portfolio), Moshe Ya'alon (Strategic Affairs Minister) and Yuval Steinitz (Finance) are against. According to these critics, Israel must continue to try to mobilize the West to exert economic pressure on Iran since Israel can not afford to take military action alone without coordination with the United States. Haaretz quoted ministers and senior officials of the Defence and Foreign Affairs, said that the report be made public, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on November 8 on the Iranian nuclear program will have "an influence decisively "on the Israeli government. Israel, sworn enemy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Western countries accuse Iran of seeking to develop atomic weapons under cover of a civilian nuclear program, which Tehran denies. The Jewish state is considered an atomic power in the region but it has never confirmed or denied having nuclear warheads.
