The Speaker expels former Minister Showkutally Soodhun from the Chamber

The tension was palpable in the late afternoon of Wednesday, November 16, natiuonale Assembly during the budget debates. The intervention of the member of the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM), Maya Hanoomanjee saw an altercation between Showkutally Soodhun and Labour Minister, Mohamed Shakeel.

In his speech, interrupted several times, the former Minister of Health, Maya Hanoomanjee, lamented that cancer patients have yet to go to hospital for treatment Jeetoo. "Nothing has been proposed for these patients in the budget," she insisted.
She also questioned the government's plan to build six new shelters for needy children. What will happen about the services provided in these centers? "she said.
